I mention, when people ask... I LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIN CITY of Las Vegas! I am an original Hollywood celebrity but I just moved here and I love it! In the tallest building on this landscape, is where all of the huge parties are. If you ever think about visiting Las Vegas come to the Caesar Palace.

Above is a very nice inkblot painting. An inkblot is a blot made of ink. An inkblot is unique because it can be seen differently by different people. In this particular blot I notice two objects. One is a paw print, and the other one is an angel. My sub-conscience notices the paw print more easily but as I continued to look at it I seem to notice an angel also. However this is only what my I can notice, you may see something different in this inkblot, which is the interesting unique part about this particular artwork.

There are many performance artists in our society today. There are many that you may not have thought about to be an performance artist also. For example, a famous African American performance artist is Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer Hudson was originally born, Jennifer Kate Hudson on September 12, 1981, in Chicago, Illinois. She is an extremely performance artist. She played in a famous movie called, Dream Girls. I chose Jennifer because I did not know musicians was a form of performance art. I learned that they were, because I searched it and numerous musicians came up. Jennifer did a performance act at an B.E.T show for one minute, and she sung. As you can performance art, is basically any form of art.

In Art class, we are currently focusing of Dadaism. Dada is not a real art that has false artworks. This is a movement people created during World War I. This is an artwork created by a Dada artist, Marcel Duchamp. You may know this artist from his famous piece, the urinal. This artwork  is a piece of art that displays a man with two heads, one facing to the side and the other facing to the front, on one neck. This is a form of Dadaism because it is abnormal. It meets the qualifications of the Dada artwork. You would not walk in an art gallery and normally see a piece of a man with two heads, but only has one neck. This also relates to Dadaism because of the artist. Marcel Duchamp is famous Dada artist that created many abnormal artworks

In art we have just finished creating portraits. I created a portrait of a lady name Monae'. I came up with this idea because she has the same name as my middle name. While creating this portrait I had some very great experiences. For instance my first experience was creating the actual painting. This was a good experience for me because I have never painting a picture of someone else before. Another fantastic experience was learning how to mix colors and add black or whit to make the original color lighter or darker. This was a great experience because I used only one color, which was orange, but it had many different shades of orange. I thought this was very cool because I did not think the final piece would look presentable. After going through these different experiences, my final portrait came out really nice.

Below is a picture I found online that an artist made. I chose this panting because I found it extremely interesting and it really caught my eye. This particular artist chose nice, cool colors to create this piece. I think the artist felt soothed and calm while creating this piece of work. I say this because she chose blue, red and orange. Also, because she has butterflies and flowers displayed in the painting too. The artist mixed and blended some colors to make look as if this painting is to separate artworks. As you can see, I have came up with many different reasons on how this artist may have felt while creating this picture. I think was happy and calm.

The artist I chose to was Shepard Fairey. Shepard Fairy is an extremely famous portrait artist who creates many nice portraits. One of his famous portraits is the one displayed below. This is a picture of President Barack Obama with the words, HOPE and PROGRESS. This portrait shows many S.P.R.I.T.E categories, such as social, and political. The first social aspect of this portrait is that it was made to Barack's people. It can also be seen socially because it is letting it be known that our country has hope, and will progress.. The politically feature of this portrait is that he is the President of the United States and it is encouraging him. It is also letting it be known that our country has. As you can see, Shepard did a fantastic job in displaying messages and providing strong encouragement with only using two words. The image of Barack Obama shows social and political evidence.

This is a portrait of Barack Obama telling people to vote for him. The message of this portrait was to try to convince people and to get them to vote for Barack Obama. He may have used this piece of artwork for campaigns and at voting polls. Sheppard put this artwork on posters, shirts, buttons, billboards, etc. Another message I received out of this artwork was to support him, and persuade people that he really wanted a huge change.

Carrie Mae Weems was a very great person. I found a lot of her artworks very inspiring. One of her artworks I chose to discuss that I felt mainly related to me, was the faded Black African American women from New York. I feel this particular piece of work compared to me the most because I normally portray this attitude. To expand my point of view, to me this image displays an African American woman who feels good about herself. This relates to me because no matter what others think I have this mindset each and everyday. Another reason this image relates to me is because she is standing like a model, and I model during my free time. The final reason why I chose this portrait was because she is an African American woman and i found this image very interesting. As stated before, this image of the faded woman related to me the most.

This is a picture of note someone wrote and a kid found it in the playground. This connects to me in many different ways. One way it connects to me is because when I was little, the other kids use to write notes like this to. For example, when I was younger, my friend Jasmine sent a note to someone and asked him did he like her. Another reason I chose this certain picture because I could never spell tomorrow. I found it extremely interesting to me because I did the same thing when I was child. As you can see, this image connected to me in many different ways.

In the picture above, it shows a picture of many different scarves. I show this picture because I feel nostalgia about scarves.  I feel nostalgia about scarves because when I was five years old, I received this scarf for my birthday and I loved it. I loved this scarf so much that I would not take it off. I still love scarves today too. My mother always reminds me of this day, every time she sees me with a scarf on, she mentions that her and my father had to wait until I fell asleep to remove the scarf. This scarf was really important, I had extremely nostalgic for this particular scarf.

Nat Goldin was an extremely great artist. Nat is a great example of a postmodern artist. Some examples that have helped me come up with this idea are that she has numerous artworks that depict representin’. Most of all Goldin’s paintings represent some type of message or concept. A great example where this can be pointed out would be the picture I used of the lady who had been abused. I found this an extremely outstanding way to approach the concept of representin’. As you can see this is the major reason why I would say Nat Goldin is considered a postmodern artist.

She one was famous for her photographs, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, in 1981, where she received this song from the title of an Opera song. This imaged described the drug use, abuse, violence, and aggressive couples. Another thing that she was famous for are her photographs of different drag queens in the 90’s.    This is an image of Aunt Jemima. Aunt Jemima is the lady off the syrup bottle and pancake box. I feel this portrait stereotypes Black African American women. I believe that this image is stereotyping Black African American women mainly because of the huge hoop earrings, the head scarf and bright red lip stick. This is stereotypical her because most people say that most black women wears scarfs and make up. Another way I would consider this image trying to criticize and label Black African American women is because it is said that most prostitutes are Black middle aged women, and this is how they dress, gigantic earrings, lots of make up, and nets and head scarfs on their head. I chose this image because I feel that this image is labeling a certain sex and race as a whole, which is considered stereotyping.

The subject matter of this postmodern artwork is to address the fact that there is not any peace. It shows a man hand that had his two fingers up, forming a peace sign. The background of this artwork shows that this portrait indicates a war in Iraq. A strategy that is used in this artwork is represntin'. I feel this artwork represents the events that occurred. Another strategy portrayed in this artwork is re-contextualization because she took a subject and connected it and made it out of another concept. I found this artwork extremely interesting to me.

The processing of bookmaking was not very easy, but was very interesting. I have learned a couple of things while doing so; such as this book helped me understand the principles and elements of art more. Some things I enjoyed about the project were how the completed book came out, while using different steps. Creating the poem was extremely difficult for me because it was hard for me to connect the principles and elements to an actual poem. There are some things that I would consider changing if I were given another opportunity to create another book. For instance, I would try to be much more creative. As you can see, creating an Elements and Principles of Art book was sort of difficult, although the finished project was interesting.

BLOG POST # 6

I find this handmade book extremely interesting. I found this book interesting because it was very creative.  It shows a map of San Frisco on a style of a book. This book was also very well crafted. The only thing this book was missing was a little color, if it had more color then I would have found this book perfect. Although overall, I really enjoyed it.

I found this piece of art extremely interesting. This particular artwork shows the two elements of line and shape. I believe it shows line because of the many different lines, which looks like blocks. Also the image showed shape because I instantly recognized several diverse shapes this meticulous illustration had. Two principles that stood out in the image were variety and movement. I say the principal is movement distinct designs are portrayed, just in a special place or form. To add to the first idea, it also showed variety. There were loads of unusual shapes and designs.
