This is an image of Aunt Jemima. Aunt Jemima is the lady off the syrup bottle and pancake box. I feel this portrait stereotypes Black African American women. I believe that this image is stereotyping Black African American women mainly because of the huge hoop earrings, the head scarf and bright red lip stick. This is stereotypical her because most people say that most black women wears scarfs and make up. Another way I would consider this image trying to criticize and label Black African American women is because it is said that most prostitutes are Black middle aged women, and this is how they dress, gigantic earrings, lots of make up, and nets and head scarfs on their head. I chose this image because I feel that this image is labeling a certain sex and race as a whole, which is considered stereotyping.

  1. This image shows the strategy representin' because this painting represents a black woman who is stereotyped as a maid or worker in a house.
