This is an image of Aunt Jemima. Aunt Jemima is the lady off the syrup bottle and pancake box. I feel this portrait stereotypes Black African American women. I believe that this image is stereotyping Black African American women mainly because of the huge hoop earrings, the head scarf and bright red lip stick. This is stereotypical her because most people say that most black women wears scarfs and make up. Another way I would consider this image trying to criticize and label Black African American women is because it is said that most prostitutes are Black middle aged women, and this is how they dress, gigantic earrings, lots of make up, and nets and head scarfs on their head. I chose this image because I feel that this image is labeling a certain sex and race as a whole, which is considered stereotyping.

The subject matter of this postmodern artwork is to address the fact that there is not any peace. It shows a man hand that had his two fingers up, forming a peace sign. The background of this artwork shows that this portrait indicates a war in Iraq. A strategy that is used in this artwork is represntin'. I feel this artwork represents the events that occurred. Another strategy portrayed in this artwork is re-contextualization because she took a subject and connected it and made it out of another concept. I found this artwork extremely interesting to me.

The processing of bookmaking was not very easy, but was very interesting. I have learned a couple of things while doing so; such as this book helped me understand the principles and elements of art more. Some things I enjoyed about the project were how the completed book came out, while using different steps. Creating the poem was extremely difficult for me because it was hard for me to connect the principles and elements to an actual poem. There are some things that I would consider changing if I were given another opportunity to create another book. For instance, I would try to be much more creative. As you can see, creating an Elements and Principles of Art book was sort of difficult, although the finished project was interesting.

BLOG POST # 6

I find this handmade book extremely interesting. I found this book interesting because it was very creative.  It shows a map of San Frisco on a style of a book. This book was also very well crafted. The only thing this book was missing was a little color, if it had more color then I would have found this book perfect. Although overall, I really enjoyed it.

I found this piece of art extremely interesting. This particular artwork shows the two elements of line and shape. I believe it shows line because of the many different lines, which looks like blocks. Also the image showed shape because I instantly recognized several diverse shapes this meticulous illustration had. Two principles that stood out in the image were variety and movement. I say the principal is movement distinct designs are portrayed, just in a special place or form. To add to the first idea, it also showed variety. There were loads of unusual shapes and designs.

The "Race and Gender Criticism," articale was about the conflicts women had, specifically addressing Black African American women. From this article I have came up with my own thoughts of why this issue occured. For instance, I believe these actions came about due to slavery and racist interations from the past. I agree that this issue is an huge conflict for African American women. This is extrmely unfair, because everyone should be able to express feelings and display their artwork publicly. As mentioned before, I think that art is very important and this article discussed very usable information.

Throughout my life I have had many art experiences. Art was a huge subject in my grammer school. An art experiecnce I really enjoyed, was when I was in sixth grade and my class made a piggy back made of balloons, newpaper, and paper mache. This was an great opportunity for me as a young child. The piggy bank was great, I actually used it. I added graphics and paintings to my piggy bank, and made it more presentable.
